Associations and Cofradias

Its origins comes from the conquer of Baeza by the Emperor Alfonso VII in 1147. Thanks to the sources as the Chronicom Mundi we know that when the tropos os Alfonso VII moved towards Almeria, the were stopped by the Muslim resistance in the city of Baeza.

At that moment , St Isidoro took part supporting Christians, and because of that the Emperor conquered Baeza on the 25th of July , the Santiago´s Day. When the Emperor went back, he Endorsed the Statutes of the Cofradia and ordered to embroider on the Standard of Baeza the image of St Isidoro riding on a spirited steed.

The purposes of the Cofradia are, among others, the sanctification of the brothers under the protection of St Isidoro; the mutual assistance; encourage the devotion to St Isidoro; attend at the acts required by the religious authorities and promoting every initiative related with the study and spread of the religious culture and specially the knowledge of st Isidoro.

It is an association related with Eucharist. It was borned in 1860 and was endorsed and enriched by the Pope St Pius XI, who granted it indulgences and privileges on the 30th of April 1861 to the Association in Rome.

Its main purpose is to worship continuosly, during the day, the Blessed Sacrament that is ever exposed in the Basilica of St Isidoro, because of the privilege since time inmemorial.

This association was borned on the 3rd of December 1844, by the hand of Father Gautrelet, S. J. in France.

Nowadays it has more than 40 millions of supporters. It is a religious work given from the Holy See to the Jesuit Church. Every day they offer themselves to God and become part of the Eucaristic Sacrifice with the renewing of our redention.

This way they help to the salvation of the world with the unión with Crist giving a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Spanish Nocturnal Adoration of León , is an association that was borned on the 3rd of March 1889 with 90 members. It is a part of the Spanish association. It was rebourned on the 18 th of November 1905.

Today there are more than 500 members in 30 turns that cover all the days of the month.

The main purpouse is to adore and pray in comunity to Crista ll night together with the religious services of the Church.
